Your privacy
This policy explains what Island Drift Detailing collects when you visit this site or book with us, why, who receives it, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Island Drift Detailing is an owner-operated mobile car detailing business in British Columbia, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information described here. Questions and requests go to booking@island-drift-detailing.com.
What we collect and why
- Booking details you enter when you book: name, email, phone number, the address where we should come, your vehicle, the package and add-ons you chose, the appointment time and any notes. We use them to schedule and do the work, confirm the appointment and contact you about it.
- How you found us: a random lead ID, the Google ad click ID (gclid, wbraid or gbraid) and campaign tags (UTM parameters) from the address you arrived at, and the page and offer you saw. They are kept in your browser for 90 days and sent with a booking, so we know which ads and pages bring customers.
- Visit measurement: the Google Ads tag records page views, ad clicks and taps on our phone number. Datadog records how the site performs for you: pages, clicks, load times, errors, browser and device type, approximate location from your IP address, and a replay of the session with anything you type masked. We use this to measure our ads and fix problems.
- Your privacy choice: whether you accepted or refused measurement, when, and which version of this policy you saw. It is kept in your browser and sent with a booking, so our ad reports respect it.
- Messages and calls: what you send us by email or phone, to answer you.
We do not sell personal information and do not use it for anything other than the purposes above.
Services that receive visitor data
We use these services to run the site and the business. Each receives only what it needs for its job.
- Google Ads (Google): the Google tag on every page, run with Google Consent Mode. When a booking follows an ad click, our booking system reports it to Google Ads with the click ID; when there is no click ID, it sends your email or phone number hashed (one-way encrypted, SHA-256) so Google can match the booking to an ad. Each report carries the privacy choice you made here.
- Datadog: visit measurement and error tracking as described above (Datadog's US5 site, United States).
- Calendly: the booking calendar and form; it receives your booking details.
- Resend: sends the booking confirmation and notification emails.
- Slack: notifies our team of a new booking, with its details.
- Vercel: hosts this website and its server functions; it processes your IP address and request details, and tells the site your approximate region so we can apply the right privacy rule.
- Notion: our customer records (CRM): clients, jobs and how each booking found us.
- Supabase: the database of our booking system, hosted in Canada.
- Booking Orchestrator: our own booking system. Its script on this site keeps the lead ID, click IDs and campaign tags described above; it receives each booking, writes it to our customer records and reports conversions to Google Ads.
Several of these services store data outside Canada, mainly in the United States, where it is subject to local law.
How long we keep it
- In your browser: your privacy choice until you clear your browser storage or this policy changes; how you found us, 90 days.
- Visit measurement: Datadog keeps session data for about 30 days; Google keeps ad data under its own retention rules.
- Booking and customer records: as long as we need them to serve you, and as long as tax and accounting rules require (generally six years).
Your choices
Use the Privacy choices button at the bottom of every page to accept or refuse measurement at any time. Booking works either way.
- Visitors in Quebec, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland: measurement is off until you choose Accept.
- Everywhere else, including the rest of Canada: measurement is on, a notice tells you so, and Reject turns it off.
When measurement is off, Datadog does not run and Google's tag stores no cookies; it still sends basic signals without cookies or identifiers (Google Consent Mode), which Google uses only to estimate ad results in aggregate. Your choice is remembered in this browser. Clearing your browser storage resets it.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete it where we are not required to keep it. Write to booking@island-drift-detailing.com; we answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the privacy regulator where you live.
